St George's Day

St George's Day
Farway pupils celebrated St George's Day by discovering the history of the legendary tale of St George and the Dragon, while also learning who the real St. George was and how brave he was for standing up for his religious beliefs.

KS1 children took turns to act out the legendary tale of George and the Dragon, before sequencing and retelling the story in their own words. The children then took part in a variety of St George’s day crafts such as puppet and flag making.

KS2 pupils also worked creatively by designing a St George and the Dragon game and generating a set of instructions for someone to play their game.

Also, all pupils took part in a variety of British Values activities – specifically Democracy and Rule of Law. To end their day of celebrating the English Patron Saint, pupils collaborated together to bake and eat a quintessential English cake; the Victoria sponge!
